The Power of 90 Minutes: 100 Sessions Later

This morning, in my attic office, I hit a milestone: my 100th 90-minute session of 2025.

That adds up to 150 hours (more than four working weeks) of focused work on Magnitude. If I hadn’t tracked it, I’d never have got there.

Why 90 minutes works

Ninety minutes is long enough to make serious progress, but short enough that you can keep showing up. I start by 7:00am, finish before 9:00am, and then the rest of the working day can begin.

Mandy and the dog, Betty, know not to disturb me during that time. Once the timer goes off, I’m back in the real world.

What actually happens in those sessions?

This isn’t about filling time. Each session goes into the work that really moves the needle:

  • Planning the new group coaching course (launching September)

  • Building funnels and workflows

  • Writing content like this blog

  • Reading and thinking — the “important but not urgent” stuff that too many business owners never get round to

Why it matters

I don’t manage one every single day — expedition days and events get in the way. But when I’m in the office, the rhythm holds.

And this morning proved something worth sharing:

150 hours. Four solid weeks of deep focus. That’s the kind of effort that changes a business.

The Magnitude Mindset

This is what Magnitude is about.

“Hope is not a strategy. Rhythmic focus is.”Patrick at Magnitude

It’s about carving out time for the important work.
It’s about running a business for humans, not for spreadsheets.
And it’s about straight answers, not smoke and mirrors.

Your Move

Jumping straight into 90-minute sessions can feel like too much if you’re not used to working this way. So start smaller.

Block out 30 minutes of undisturbed time. No phone, no email, no “just checking this quickly.” See what you can get done.

Once you’ve got the hang of that, stretch it to 60 minutes. Then to 90.

Because the habit matters more than the length. And once the rhythm kicks in, you’ll be amazed what 150 hours of deliberate focus can do for your business.

And after a month or so, let us know how you got on — and what amazing progress you made.
